2026

Heart of my City was completed in the summer of 2026, shortly after the city of Minneapolis had experienced the most active phase of ICE's "Metro Surge" operation. This painting celebrates the strength of our immigrant friends and neighbors and the community who stand against ICE.

Intent to Rebuild

Intent to Rebuild is about the energy and ideas swirling around in your mind before you start over on something you are determined to achieve. The feeling after the frustration of failing the first time dissipates and the drive to try again is building. The feeling that motivates action and results in success. Learning from your mistakes. I see this in English learners' faces when they are about to try for the final time to write a sentence correctly. I feel it in myself after I have scrapped off layers of a painting that wasn't working and I can see the path forward for the future p
